Rachelle (rhymes with bell) Allan is a children’s book writer and illustrator based in Southern Idaho. She loves creating art that celebrates the joy of childhood and the magic of kindness.

Rachelle creates her art with a mixture of digital watercolor, ink and pencil brushes. Working digitally has made it possible for her to pursue art with her four kids underfoot. She’s inspired by vintage books, walks in nature, her children, and sprinkled donuts.

In the fourth grade, Rachelle wrote and illustrated a short story for a school project and stayed up way past her bedtime trying to get the illustrations juuuust right. Although she was bleary-eyed and exhausted for school the next day, her hard work paid off when her story received an honorary award.

After fourth grade, she continued to take art classes but chose to focus on dance through most of her education. Now as a mom, Rachelle has gone back to her love of art and making stories for children. She hopes to inspire readers of all ages with her stories of kindness and joy.
